Dangerous Asteroid to Pass Near Earth: NASA
2021 KT1, a “conceivably hazardous” asteroid is crossing near the Earth on June 1, NASA has predicted. The asteroid will obtain a solid passageway to the Earth at about 10:24 am EDT (7:54 pm IST). The massive rock would travel through our planet with a range of almost 4.5 million miles. A few of the additional asteroids are likewise to be expected to run past the Earth following this week. Though, those would be significantly more miniature than the 2021 KT1.
NASA has remarked on its Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) website that the 2021 KT1 asteroid could be approximately 186 meters in measurement. This is slightly bigger than the world's tallest statue 'The Statue of Unity' which is 182 meters in height.
The asteroid will not be able to hit the Earth as it would be 4.5 million miles apart at the nearest point. However, NASA estimates that an asteroid is most probably dangerous when it comes within the boundaries of 4.6 million miles of the Earth and if it is bigger than 150 meters.
Therefore, the scientists consider that uncertainties of the Earth happening affected by NEOs over extended sessions are “not negligible” and therefore NASA and additional space companies around the globe actively control asteroid and comet consequences.
In accession to the 2021 KT1, some tinier asteroids are crossing near the Earth in the following days. Those asteroids are assumed to be up to 21 meters in measurement, which won't affect much.
