How hackers access your iPhone without your knowledge?
Gone are the days when the hacker sent an OTP or a link for the user to click so that he can access his system. Now, with ‘zero-click feature, the Apple iPhones could be easily targeted without the user having any knowledge.
The cybersecurity experts at the Citizen Lab uncovered a flaw in the iPhones’ security. According to them, this flaw has been detected in Apple Smartphones so far. The malicious software could sneak into the user’s phone without them having to be trapped into anything.
The software detects a loophole in Apple’s iMessage software and made its way through it. it installs Pegasus software which is highly malicious in nature and invades the very working of the phone. Unfortunately, the sad part is, the user cannot do anything about it. In fact, he won’t even know that he has been infected.
Earlier, this vulnerability was detected on WhatsApp as a zero-click option, where the Pegasus software was maliciously installed on the user’s device without his information. It has always been an easy way to infect phones through messaging apps. A core reason behind this is, messaging apps contain the information of people with their location & phone numbers. This makes it easier for the hackers to conduct nation-states and commercial mercenary hacking operations.
However, after much wait, Apple devised a security update in their iPhones to tackle this software and erode the issue of zero-click hacking. But the issue is that tackling problems like these is rare for such a big company too.
